Serious love for Forte

While running back Matt Forte isn't getting the type of attention he would if he played in a major conference, nonetheless he's drawn a lot of praise for the monster season he's having.

Once again, Forte was named Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, the second time he's won the award this season after a 300+ yard performance. He was also nominated for the AT&T All American Player of the Week (second time this year as well). You can vote for him here early and often. Curiously enough, while kicker Ross Thevenot and defensive tackle Avery Williams were named LSWA Players of the Week on special teams and defense respectively, the writers chose Matt Flynn over Forte. Huh?

ESPN has a nice blurb about him in one of their round-ups (scroll down). Forte was also featured on ESPN's mid-week college football program, and anchor and former Giants QB (and "The Bachelor" star) Jessie Palmer had some nice things to say about Forte.

Finally, for a quick laugh, there's this article from the Denton Record-Online about SMU head coach Phil Bennett's reaction. Be sure to check out Bob Toledo's press conference as well.
