Tulane vs. Huston-Tillotson First Half

What I liked about the first half: Team rebounding and Krish Richard's defense. Richard did a great job on his man, notching two steals and also forcing him to throw the ball out of bounds another time. His man never scored. Rebounding wise, Tulane out-rebound HTU 23-15, which is a very wide margin.

What I didn't like about the first half: Outside shooting. While it is not necessarry for Tulane to hit outside shots this game, it certainly would be nice. They are winning this game with layups and rebounding, but against bigger Conference-USA teams, they are going to also need to shoot the ball. Tulane is 0-10 on three-pointers, and as far as I can remember, only hit one jump shot. That is embarrassing.

0:00 - Tulane finishes the first-half ahead of Huston-Tillotson 34-17. Basically played how expected

David Gomez has just become the 29th player in school history to score 1000 his points. He accomplished this with his eighth point, and is now at 1001.

5:29 - Huston-Tillotson is a very small team, and David Gomez is taking advantage. After hitting a jumper, David Gomez blocked a shot, than used his size on the offensive end of the court to get a layup+ foul. He has 9 points already. Tulane is putting this one away quickly, now up 30-10.

8:00 - Huston-Tillotson recently switched to a full court trap, and it seems to be giving Tulane a little bit of trouble. Kevin Sims comes back in the game to help that solve that problem. Tulane keps expanding the lead, which is now 20-10

11:00- Freshman Kris Richard shows great basketbal IQ, smartly picking off two passes on consecutive plays. Green Wave lead 16-6.

12:46- Green Wave look very tentative shooting the ball. They are playing reat defense right now, but offensively they just dont look very confident. Tulane leads 12-6.

14:54 - I got to Fogleman a little late, but right now the Green Wave lead 8-4.

Tonight I am blogging live from Fogleman for the Tulane Men's Basketball game against Huston Carrolton.
