Tulane vs. Rice 4th Quarter Update

The Green Wave defeated Rice 45-31. Matt Forte, who started the day with 1,813 yards, finished with 194 yards on 39 carries with 5 touchdowns. The total gives Forte 2,007 yards on the season. Forte became the first running back to eclipse the 2,000 yard mark since JJ Arrington. While it is still unlikely that Forte will make the top 5 in Heisman voting, he certainly should be in contention for other national awards.

Great win for the Wave. Forte is an amazing player, but really it all starts with the play upfront. Nierman, Parenton, Kropog, etc. have all be outstanding this season and will all return next season. Andre Anderson or Andre Agers could easily combine to rush for 1500+ yards, maybe more.

If only the team had gotten it together sooner and finished off Rice and Memphis. The fourth quarter defense and special teams (Thevenot) werea killer. It really sucks to know that this team could easily have 5 or 6 wins going into next week and a chance for a bowl bid.
