Memphis vs. Tulane Postgame

Head Coach Dave Dickerson

"We just got beat by the best team in the country. It's a difficult loss but you have to put it in context."

"I thought we played hard for 40 minutes. This is tough for us because it's fourth straight loss and we have to find a way to get a win."

"Memphis' confidence is the most impressive part of their team. They weren't rattled by the amazing support from the students and fans we got tonight."

"Memphis has some of the best players in the country. The score says we lost by 26 points but we also played well. The big thing is that we have to get this loss out of our system."

Tulane forward David Gomez

"Their athleticism and size is definitely a factor but I don't really think it took that much away from us that we couldn't do anything about it."

Memphis guard Chris Douglas-Roberts

"Tulane came out and gave us their best shot. We were a little deeper which got us over the hump."

On his big scoring night

"I didn't do anything different tonight, just came out aggressive the whole game."

On phenom Derrick Rose

"He's still a freshman, 18 years old, we're not expecting him to come out every night and carry us."

On their undefeated run

"We're taking it one game at a time. We don't pay attention to all of the streaks that we have going."

Memphis coach John Calipari

"Our plan was to pressure early. I was really, really worried about this game against Tulane. The distraction of Tennessee and the way it's been hyped up so far really worried me."

"Tulane scored on us at will inside. We have to play better than that against Tennessee."

Douglass-Roberts was almost offended when I asked him if he was a little scared this game could be a trap game with Tennessee coming up. "Scared? We weren't scared of anything." They are a confident team, that's for sure.
